Circe by Madeline Miller

Circe by Madeline Miller gave me such a feminine power throughout the read. I have just finished this book at the laundromat couple hours ago and the ending has made me so content. Circe, the protagonist, has gone through so much in the story that any female might find it closely relatable. Being belittled, underestimated, and judged are things that Circe experience in the story; things that many females often experience while living in a misogynistic, patriarchal world. I felt so much pity towards Circe in the beginning of the book, how badly she was treated by her own family, and how their judgements regarding Circe has completely consumed her. But as the story goes, you start to see and unravel Circe's character development, and how she was able to stand up for herself and do the things she wants. Her dreams and desires are always stumped on by male power, and I felt so happy for her when she finally realized how to stand up and defend for herself. Throughout her life, she has always looked for happiness, and she finally did in the last pages of the book.

This book is a chill, relaxing read. It doesn't have that much climax scenes. It's as if you're flipping through the pages as if you were with Circe, overlooking and adapting to the changes in the environment and the world itself -- as if you're aging with Circe herself. A really great well written book!
